When's the last time you took inventory of the space around you?
Your environment impacts so much — including your productivity and motivation. If you feel like your space needs a little spruce, here are three of my favorite tips for maintaining a productive, motivating workspace:
01. Remove visual clutter
Before you try to dive into a focused project, do a clean sweep of any trash, empty cups, or excess piles in your workspace. And flip that phone upside down! Notifications causing your screen to light up are hard to ignore.
02. Minimize distracting sounds
Break out headphones and put on some music or ambient noise to block out conversations or distracting sounds. Coffee shop sounds on Spotify or YouTube are a favorite of mine to tune into!
03. Set a timer
Take inspiration from the pomodoro method of getting work done, and set a timer! Put your devices into "do not disturb" mode, set a timer for 20 minutes, and FOCUS hard on one particular task during that time block. When it's up, take a 5 minute break, then start again.
